Put 4–5 soap nuts in a reusable cloth bag and tie it closed.
Put the bag in the washing machine with your clothes.
Run the washing cycle as normal.
After the cycle is complete, you can either dry the soap nuts or use them again in the next load.
You can reuse soap nuts up to 10 times, or until they become brittle or the shell is very thin.
When the soap nuts are soft and gray, you can compost them.

You can also use soap nuts to make body wash or shampoo:
Body wash
Boil 15–18 soap nuts with 8 cups of water. You can also add burdock root. After cooking, let it cool and strain it through a towel.
Shampoo
Mix 1 teaspoon of soap nut powder with a little water to make a paste. For long hair, use 2 teaspoons.
